On Good Friday, St Swithun Wells Parish held its first official outdoor Stations of the Cross, around Eastleigh town centre!

It was very successful, with over 100 people attending!

Stations of the Cross is such an important part of Easter, as we reflect, pray and walk with Christ through his passion.

Thank you to everyone who attended, and we look forward to making next years event even bigger!

Good Friday

We hope to see you all today at the Good Friday Stations of the Criss, starting at 10.30am at Holy Cross Church, Eastleigh.

We will be commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, by following the procession of the cross around Eastleigh and listening to readings and hymns.

All are welcome. We look forward to seeing you there later today!

Don’t forget to abstain from meat today to honour the sacrifice of Jesus, who gave up his flesh on the cross.

Donkeys were at the Passion Play at St Swithun Wells Primary school last week and of course, everyone was very excited to see these gentle creatures.

We are very happy to announce that St Swithun Wells parish, in collaboration with Churches Together Eastleigh, will be running the Stations of the Cross procession around Eastleigh, this Good Friday (3rd April).

The procession will start and finish at Holy Cross church, and will visit various stations around the precinct (by Sainsbury’s) and in the Leigh Road Recreation Ground.

The event starts at 10.30am in Holy Cross Church (53 Leigh Road, Eastleigh)

All are welcome to join us for this special Easter event!

As many of you will know (having probably had parking issues at some point over the last few weeks!), we are currently having some work done on Holy Cross Church.

Our builders have found lots of old grafitti on the bricks, probably done by school children at the time. The oldest date we have found so far is 1986!

The children of the congregation at St Joseph’s loved today’s children’s liturgy!

They were each given a handful of chocolates and told that they could keep those chocolates for themselves, or they could give them back and swap them for something unknown!

A tough choice indeed! Much like when God commanded Abraham to leave his country and his father’s household to go to an unspecified land.

Abraham obeyed God and demonstrated his profound faith. He was rewarded for his faith.

It was a tough choice for today’s children too, but one brave child decided to make the swap and the others soon followed. Their faith in Fr Pietro was to be rewarded with a much bigger chocolate egg for Easter, and they all left looking very pleased with themselves.

A wonderful lesson, as always from Fr Pietro, about trust and faith.
