Grail Seekers is a group of friends in search for true happiness. It is not a “time out” from daily life, but helps us to make sense of what we live, discovering that every aspect of our life is precious and valuable and that in every circumstance you can experience the gaze of Someone who loves you and makes you grow.
The group is open to all young people in school year 7 to 9. We also accept on request kids in school year 6. When we meet we play games, sing songs, and share our lives together. Occasionally we also organise day trips, weekends away, camps and outdoor charitable activities.
The Promise
The most important moment in the life of the group is what we call "The Promise". Here is how we explain it to the children:
The Promise is your “yes” to Jesus who promises you: “If you stay with me I will make you happy”. It is a special celebration that we will hold annually, where we invite you to freely and consciously say your yes by promising to follow the Rule of Grail Seekers You don’t promise to perfect but to walk with us towards Jesus who is perfect, with the help of the Rule that consists of three commitments:
Treating each other as brothers and sisters.
Saying the Prayer of the Knights daily.
Being missionaries by inviting new friends to join the group
You are not too small for this. After spending time in the Church and hearing about Jesus, now is the moment to make a personal decision.
Don't be afraid. The Promise is an important step in your journey, but it’s not the final destination. You don't need to have already understood everything about God as you don't need to me "mature" to do the Promise. On the contrary doing the Promise will help you to mature, because we grow by saying "yes" to God's invitation to be His friend and follow Him through the fellowship of Grail Seekers.
You are free to choose whether or not to make the Promise, but we encourage you to take this decision seriously, with full awareness and sincerity.
Being faithful to God can seem difficult at times. You might feel weak or afraid of failing. That’s why you need support—choose a Saint who can guide you through prayer and example.
This special time is marked by an exciting trip to celebrate making the Promise. This trip was last weekend to the Isle of Wight, where a fantastic time was had by everyone, and even the weather was smiling on the trip, as the rain held off entirely!
The group took part in a group walk to Tennyson Monument, and the Needles, and then time spent at Quarr Abbey, to make their Promises. This was followed by a party to celebrate the Promises that had been made.
If you would like to join the Grail Seekers, the group runs on Sundays (6.30-8.30pm) except during school holidays. We meet at Holy Cross Resource Centre (Eastleigh) to have a meal, play games, sing songs, and share our lives in the light of a "weekly input". Occasionally we also organise day trips, weekend away and camps. To join in, please email:
